About Us
Cane River Food Pantry is a non-profit organization associated with the Feeding America program. It operated in Robeline under the title “Robeline Food Pantry” for 16 years and was relocated to Natchitoches in 2015 and renamed the Cane River Food Pantry. The pantry operates under the auspices of the Central Louisiana Food Bank located in Alexandria.
Currently over 240 families are being served by the Cane River Food Pantry. We now cover Natchitoches Parish only. Clients must meet our qualifications and produce documents to prove that they qualify. The pantry is located at 446 Martin Luther King Drive. The office for the pantry is located at 220 Amulet Street.
Food distribution to clients occurs on the second Saturday of each month at the pantry. Much preparation occurs during the week before that second Saturday distribution.

Retail Recovery
In September 2017 Cane River Food Pantry entered a new program called Retail Recovery Program. The program was initiated by Brookshires (now Super 1) and Walmart to give remainder food locally instead of shipping it away from this area. Four days a month Cane River Food Pantry picks up free food from the two stores. The food is weighed and stored at the pantry. The pickup days are usually Monday and Friday of the first two weeks of each month: 9 am for Super 1 and 10 am for Walmart. This activity can take anywhere from one to three hours, depending on how much food there is to collect and store.
